Piedmont Community College, like you, has had to rethink how to continue to provide services during this pandemic. PCC has pivoted to offer more instruction through different types of distance education to be able to continue to serve students. This is also true for their Adult Basic Skills (ABS) Program of PCC.
The ABS program is designed for adults who were unable to earn a high school diploma or who lack the basic academic skills of reading, writing, and math, or who need to learn English as their second language. Instruction is provided for FREE as well as PCC will loan a laptop to a student who is enrolled in a PCC class.
You may wonder how this may apply to your church. Like you, PCC has a mission to serve people to improve their lives. Think about whether you have any parishioners who need to improve their basic skills to be more active participants in church functions or in their communities. Parents who have recently experienced teaching their children at home may have realized that they, too, need to brush up on their academic skills. Do you have non-native English speakers who need help with English communication skills?
PCC requests that you share the attached flyer promoting their free “Take-Out Instruction” with your church members.
